How are Funeral Cover and Family Funeral Cover different?

Sanlam Indie Funeral Cover allows you to insure your own life. It provides an immediate lump sum payout to your beneficiaries when you die. That way, they can focus on giving you a decent funeral when you pass on without worrying about the bills. You can choose a single or multiple beneficiaries to get the payout when you die, at which point the policy is cancelled. You must be at least 18 years old to take out an active policy, up to the age of 60. You can insure your own life up to R50,000.

Sanlam Indie Family Funeral Cover allows you to insure the lives of your immediate or extended family. You can add up to 20 family members to this funeral benefit. All other lives can be insured from 16 years up to the age of 85. You can cover children aged 0 - 6 years for up to R10,000; children aged 7 - 14 years up to R25,000. Anyone 15 years and older can get up to R50,000 cover. You, the policyholder, get the lump sum payout when one of your family members dies.
